Key Considerations in Immediate Implant Placement and the Importance of Soft Tissue
Immediate implant placement offers significant advantages by shortening treatment time and meeting patients’ functional and aesthetic expectations at an early stage. However, the success of this approach depends on several critical factors, including careful case selection, atraumatic tooth extraction, and achieving sufficient primary stability. In particular, the condition of the peri-implant soft tissues plays a pivotal role in maintaining peri-implant tissue health. The presence of keratinized mucosa, along with adequate height and width of the soft tissue, are essential for minimizing marginal bone loss, ensuring biological sealing, and preserving long-term aesthetic outcomes. Therefore, soft tissue management should be addressed through a multidisciplinary approach during both surgical and prosthetic planning, and when necessary, supported by soft tissue augmentation procedures to optimize peri-implant tissue stability and health.
